Meet Mack
I’m Mack — mid-40s, 12-handicap, and I’ve spent way too much money on golf tech so you don’t have to. I’ve owned a SkyTrak, Mevo+, Garmin R10, and MLM2PRO. Sold two of them after figuring out what actually mattered for my game and my space.
My garage simulator bay is my sanctuary. It started with a crappy net and a dream, and now it’s a legit setup with a projector, impact screen, and more data than I know what to do with. The journey taught me a lot — mostly that marketing specs and real-world performance are two very different things.
What This Site Is
Golf Buyers Lab exists because I got tired of reading “best launch monitor” articles written by people who’ve never owned one. Every comparison here comes from actual use — not press releases, not affiliate link farming, not spec-sheet copy-paste.
The goal is simple: help you spend smart on golf tech. Whether you’re building your first simulator bay or deciding between two launch monitors, I’ll tell you what I’d actually buy with my own money.
What We Cover
- Launch Monitors — Head-to-head comparisons with real data from my garage bay and the range.
- Simulator Builds — Projectors, impact screens, mats, enclosures, and everything else you need for a garage setup.
- Distance Tech — GPS watches and rangefinders broken down by budget, handicap, and use case.
- Software — GSPro, E6 Connect, Awesome Golf — what’s worth it and what’s overpriced.
Editorial Approach
No sponsors. No freebies. I buy everything I review at retail price. If I recommend something, it’s because I’d buy it again. If something sucks, I’ll tell you that too.
Every article is written to answer a real question that golfers actually ask — not to chase keywords or sell you something. If you disagree with a take, good. That means you’re thinking about it, which is the whole point.
